The secret to perfect wedding photos
Taking wedding photos professionally is not a task to be taken for granted. Every couple wants to have the best photos - photos that will recall the feeling you had on your big day for years to come. As a wedding photographer, I would like to share some ideas and help you get the best photos!
You need light to take photos. If there is no light, you cannot take a picture. Light has some properties that determine the resulting photograph. For example, the direction, intensity and colour temperature (colour) of the light. Just because the sun is shining doesn't necessarily mean that good wedding photos will be taken. Many people are afraid of shadows these days, but in fact we light to create shadows. It's a way of making things feel spatial. So it makes a difference what the shadows look like. How blurred or contoured are they? Where are these shadows positioned on the person or persons photographed?
Is it really impossible to take a good picture of me? - taking wedding photos
I often hear from clients, "I haven't had a good photo taken of me yet - that might not be possible." They are the ones who have never been to a professional photographer before. And after the photo session, they usually say, "I never would have thought... It's a miracle..."
Next time try this: in the dark, you stand under a street lamp. The light from the lamp above creates some rather ugly, or rather funny, shadows on your face. In the same way, when taking wedding photos in the summer in the midday sun, pictures taken in the blazing sun are just as forgettable because the shadows created on the face and clothes are awful.
It's worth testing the difference between hard and soft light for yourself: sitting in a room with the sun shining through the window, sit down so that the sun is shining directly on you. Then draw the curtains (not the blinds) or place a white screen in front of the window. The change is quite spectacular - you get much softer, more diffused light. The result is much more pleasing. For good results, diffused light from the right direction is ideal.
Choosing the time of day - The best time to take your wedding photos
Nature does a similar thing: the atmosphere behaves in exactly the same way as a curtain to the light entering a room, but less efficiently. In the daytime, on a clear day, when the sun is just above us, there is only a short layer of atmosphere for the sun's rays to penetrate, so they are less scattered. This makes it the worst time to take wedding photos, for example. At sunrise and sunset, the sun's rays travel much further through the atmosphere. This causes the sun to scatter and the resulting shadows are much softer. If the wedding photographer uses these lights to set the couple up properly, the images produced will also be much more beautiful than those taken in the midday sun.
Yes, but there are many elements of a wedding that happen before and after the shoot. So it's not always possible to schedule the shoot for the right time of day. It goes without saying that the make-up artist and hairdresser always come before the wedding photography. Even if they come around eight in the morning, it takes at least two hours before you can start taking pictures - it's almost midday sunshine. If you count on a minimum of two hours, the end of the shoot is just before noon. Ideally we would shoot between 6-8am, but that would involve a 4am start, which I don't think anyone would agree to, so mid-morning is out of the question.
Many people do not want their partner to see them in their wedding dress before the ceremony. Then have the photo shoot after the ceremonies, this is a time close to sunset so the light is slightly better. This, however, means leaving the wedding party alone until the wedding after party starts, so not everyone can make the evening. It is obvious that we can only take wedding photos if we compromise somewhere, either at the expense of the wedding photos or the guests.
Best time to take wedding photos
What options are left if, despite all our best intentions and efforts, the wedding photography has to take place in the most sunny weather? First, at noon, don't expect your wedding photographer to take sunset pictures. Second, make sure you bring adequate amounts of fluids and headgear. I don't think anyone wants to get sunburnt and then party the night away.
The summer heat is a big enough problem to get the ideal wedding photos, so finding a location with less sun can be a solution. A building or a shady, wooded grove. If you opt for a location shaded by leaves, it should be dense enough, because if there are tiny patches of light between the leaves, it will look even worse than the blazing sun. Low light is still much easier to supplement with artificial light than too much light.
Once you've decided when you're going to have your photo taken, make an appointment with your wedding photographer. On the other hand, check the Internet to see what castles, hotels or other locations near the venue are suitable for beautiful wedding photos. Once you have chosen a suitable location, contact them to obtain any necessary permissions and to book a date. - Professional wedding photos: fotoArt.hu
Creative photography you wouldn't wish on your enemies
The perfect wedding photos are not taken in the middle of the desert in the blazing sun, in the midday sun! The same goes for beach wedding photography in the sweltering heat. In this case, not only you, but also the photographer will suffer, because his task will be nothing less than to illuminate you with a performance approaching the light of the sun. The reason for this is to reduce or eliminate those awful shadows. Don't be surprised if your photographer pulls out a flash or flashes even though the sun is shining on seven branches. There are tools designed for such a situation (diffusers and giant reflectors), but they require a team of 2-3 people in addition to the photographer to use them. The cost of this is higher than simply moving the creative photography to another day.
The ideal solution: if you can, have the creative photo shoot on another day. The dress salons are prepared for this possibility, even giving you the wedding dress for several days. This way, if necessary, you can even fit in a dry cleaner between the creative shoot and the wedding day. The quality of the pictures will amply compensate for the extra work of the make-up artist and hairdresser. A huge advantage is that I'm not rushing to the shoot in the middle of the most stressful time. You don't have to watch the clock all the time to make sure you don't run out of time. Creative wedding photos can be taken at any of your favourite locations at the most convenient time of day.

If you don't have to rush, the atmosphere is much more relaxed and you'll get more natural photos. The location is better, the light is better and the results are miles better.
